be taken multiple times, as we vary the pattern month-to-month,
and is a GREAT activity to share with your girlfriends--why not
a weekly Ladies' Night this month, with your sewing machines?
This class assumes that you've completed our Intro Sewing series, or have similar skills. It can be taken before, after or at the same time as our Intermediate series!

Serger Sundays: Serger 101
You've gotten comfortable with your sewing machine. You're reading patterns, you're making stuff like nobody's business. And now? Well, thanks to Santa, now you've got a SERGER. Good for you! That scary looking machine might be haunting you, but no longer! We've got the solution: an in-depth, expert guide to all that your serger can help you do. Learn threading and maintenance techniques to save time and make your work look professional; all the stitches you'd ever need plus projects where you'd use them; fancy finishes to make every project you produce look like it came off the show room floor; and all the confidence you'll ever want as you show that serger who's boss! This is a class series of three sessions.
This class assumes that you have completed our Intro Sewing and Patterns classes ( or have equivalent skills). Please feel free to email or call if you're wondering if this meets your skill level!
Meets Sunday January 10, 17, AND 24 from 2-4 pm at Whipstitch (inside

Tween and Teen Sewing
It's back! Our very popular Tween and Teen sewing classes have returned after a fall hiatus, better than ever. We divide our kids' sewing classes into two age groups: 8-11 (the Tweens) and 12-15 (the Teens). Both classes are offered as individual lessons in a group setting: every student works at their own pace side-by-side with others doing the same project. This allows students to learn from one another while they get individualized attention and the freedom to explore sewing as their skills develop. Each class is taught as a four-part series, and we've moved them to Saturday mornings by popular demand! Students learn to thread their machines, work with hand needles, create simple patterns, stitch straight lines and curves, make linings and straps and waistabands, and so much more. Content varies month-to-month based on student skill and interest, so register all year long!
Tween Sewing (ages 8-11) meets Saturday January 9, 10, 16 AND 30 from 10-11.15 am at Whipstitch, inside Beehive Co-op.
$165 class fee includes pattern and some supplies. You provide fabric and notions for your finished project. Students should provide basic sewing supplies and have access to a machine (but please let us know if you need help locating a machine--we have some loaners available!).
Teen Sewing (ages 12-15) meets Saturday January 9, 10, 16 AND 30 from 11.30 am-1 pm at Whipstitch, inside Beehive Co-op.

Welcome to Embroidery!
Hand embroidery is one of the coolest things we've seen in a long time, and is taking over as a soothing, hand-held craft that anyone can do. Come join us to learn ten basic stitches and techniques, what supplies are best, and create your own project from beginning to end. This class is part of a two-class series that covers all the basics and then some, just like you'd expect from Whipstitch!
Meets Thursday Jan 7 AND Thursday Jan 14 from 7-9.30 pm at Whipstitch (inside
Beehive Co-op.)
$110 class fee includes all supplies and a pattern to take home.
Wardrobe Recycle
This class is the companion to our popular Harvesting Vintage Fabrics workshop, and can be taken either before or after that class. We're looking at piles of before-and-afters of refashion projects: taking old or thrifted or handed-down garments and re-envisioning them as something new! See skirts from pants and kids' clothes from men's suits, or pot holders from bathrobes beyond. We'll spend the first part of class looking at examples and brainstorming ideas, and the second part working on a project you've brought along that needed a little inspiration.
Meets Thursday January 21 from 7-10 pm at Whipstitch (inside
Beehive Co-op)
$65 class fee includes handout and some supplies. You bring a garment to experiment on and your sewing machine.
Sip and Stitch
Every month, we set aside time to relax and decompress in the company of our stitch friends. Call it Sewing Circle, call it the Whipstitch Laboratory, we know that no matter what you call it, you'll want to come back time and again. Bring your machine or your handwork or just your curiosity! Join us for a night of BYO snacks and great conversation.
Meets Thursday January 28 from 7 to 10 pm at Whipstitch (inside
Beehive Co-op)
