We’ve invited four talented local fabric designers–Amy Schimler of Red Fish Circle who designs for Robert Kaufman*, Melody Miller of Ruby Star Rising who designs for Kokka of Japan, Ellen Baker of the Long Thread discussing DIY fabric design, and Rashida Coleman-Hale of I (Heart) Linen who has an upcoming collection for Timeless Treasures–to join us in the shop and share their insight, experience and design process as we learn about the world of fabric design.
We’ll begin on Friday night, September 10, with a Happy Hour meet-n-greet from 6-8 pm, giving you the chance to ask the designers your questions and get their feedback on your own design ideas. We’ll have samples of the designers’ fabric on display in the shop, and a chance to win a free fabric bundle of all the designs! Saturday, September 11, join us at 11 am for a panel discussion and hear each of these four talented and successful designers share with you how they think through a fabric collection, how you can translate your own ideas to fabric, and how to break into the world of fabric design. Stick around for a demonstration for how to create a clean pattern repeat for upload to print your own fabric, followed by a second drawing for a winner of a $25 Whipstitch gift certificate, open to all of you who attend the panel discussion. All events for the Fabric Design Weekend are FREE and open to the public.
